An accessible website is a site that allows all users to access its content without difficulty, including people with disabilities who use specialised software or hardware.

An accessible site allows for example:

  • Navigation with speech synthesizers or Braille keyboards (especially used by blind or visually impaired internet users).
  • Customisation of the site display of the site according to needs (enlargement of the characters, modification of colours, etc).
  • Navigation without using the mouse, with the keyboard only or via a touch screen.

Browse the website

  • A search engine provides access to the site's content.
  • The main navigation menu provides access to the site's main themes.
  • The site map corresponds to the fully-deployed main navigation menu.

Images have a text alternative. Where relevant, complex images are accompanied by a more detailed description, either on the same page or on a dedicated page.

Data tables are marked up so that they can be understood by a screen reader.

  • All the pages on the site have their own title, which makes it easy to understand the content.
  • Within the page, content is structured using headings and sub-headings.

Compliance with standards

To achieve this, the site must comply with the standards in force when it is created and updated.
